Mahendra Engineering College - Tiruchengode (TN)

Mahendra Engineering College is the founding Engineering Institution of Mahendra Educational Trust (MET). The College was started in 1995 with three branches of engineering, namely B.E.Computer Science Engineering, B.E. Electronics and Communication Engineering and B.E. Mechanical Engineering, approved by AICTE and affiliated to the University of Madras. Today, the College offers several Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes in Engineering, Computer Applications and Applied Sciences. The Students strength has grown from 180 in 1995 to about 2500 in 2008. The College is now affiliated to Anna University, Coimbatore. The total built-up area of the present infrastructural facility is 31,970 sq.m.

The College is an ISO 9001 - 2000 Certified Institution and, B.E. Electronic and Communication Engineering and B.E.Mechanical Engineering Programmes are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Also, B.E. Computer Science and Engineering, B.E.Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and B.Tech Information Technology were inspected by an Expert Committee of NBA during the month of March and the grant of accreditation is awaited.

Location:

The College is situated in a sprawling campus of 130 acres in rural sylvan surroundings and is free from pollution. The College stands as colossus at Mahendhirapuri on Salem - Tiruchengode - Erode state highway, 27 Km from Salem and 33 Km from Erode and is well connected to all major cities, Industrial centres across the country through railway and road network. The area is characterized by educational promotion and economic transformation.


LIBRARY:



Mahendra Engineering College has two Libraries – one for Undergraduate programmes and the other for Postgraduate programmes. Both are centralized and airconditioned.


CANTEEN AND STUDENT STORES:



The College has a spacious and airy Canteen. It provides a variety of wholesome, tasty snacks and food at a reasonable price. The Canteen also provides packaged snacks items, bakery products, soft drinks to the taste and requirements of not only the students but also the staff members.

TRANSPORT:



The College has its own fleet of transport to pick-up students from Salem, Erode, Namakkal, Tiruchengode, etc. and covers almost every important locations situated within a radial distance of 55 KM. The College is presently using 45 buses out of 150buses owned and operated by Mahendra Educational Trust.


HOSTEL:




Separate Hostel facilities are available for Boys and Girls. The Hostel provides accommodation for all the needy students. The rooms are furnished with Table, Chair, Cot and Fan. A Committee consisting of the following personnel manages the Hostel

The College has built separate Hostel for Boys and Girls. The Boys Hostel has 303 rooms to accommodate 483 students. The rooms are furnished for single bed, double bed, three bed or dormitory type occupancy from economy to delux suite to make it affordable to every section of the society.

A Medical Practioner is appointed to visit the Hostel every evening for an hour. However the service at call will be available round the clock. The College has an understanding with Gokulam Hospital, Salem to attend to emergencies and inpatient facilities.
